Betsy's Story:
Dear Amira,
Life is so much better: I feel elongated, aligned, lighter, taller, more myself (somehow!) too. I see how the Alexander Technique has imperceptibly changed my very own view of myself. I feel more normal, less emotionally unhappy, more like myself -- and I like myself more.
Physical pain is at bay, mostly, and when stress or accident cause pain I can, in time, let it go and return to bodily comfort.
Psychologically the Alexander Technique has a lot to offer: you have taught me how to use the technique to remain in the moment, to meet friends and adversaries with quiet resolve to match their energy, to explore pain without negativity, and in other ways to return myself to a calmer, stabler, state of mind -- sometimes even to moments of inner peace!
I have lost weight without trying; I feel and look younger; I am conquering my fears; in short, the Alexander Technique has been a blessing.
I am so grateful to have found THIS practice--this quiet, uncanny, nearly-imperceptible-from-the-outside technique--and to have found you too, Amira, someone so capable of teaching the technique, on the one hand, and of using the technique, on the other hand, to improve one's quality of life.
Yours in sincere gratitude,
Betsy Sharf

Private Lessons
Private Alexander lessons will help you understand what it is you're doing that is causing your pain, stressful life, and poor posture. They will raise your awareness so that you can recognize when you are engaged in a unconscious, habitual way of behaving that is actually harmful.
Lessons give you the right information and a time-tested method for transforming these detrimental habits so you can create the life you want.
How does it work?
We engage in our most common daily activities unconsciously and automatically, giving little thought to how we do what we do. While essential to living a modern, contemporary life, many of the habitual ways we behave not only limit our functionality and performance but also cause pain and tension.
Knowing how to guide ourselves consciously provides a means to choose better, more efficient ways to function. As a result, we perform better, help our pain and posture and have a method at the ready for responding positively to anything life brings our way.
At its core, the Technique is about the freedom to choose - to choose better ways of moving, better ways of thinking, better emotional responses, and ultimately a better life.
I offer complimentary phone consultations for first time students. This is often a helpful way to assess whether learning the Alexander Technique is appropriate for you.
I always recommend that you come for two lessons as an introduction to see if the Alexander Technique is right for you.
