Students ask me “Am I sitting correctly?” or “Do I have good posture now?” Many don’t know how to sit comfortably, in a balanced, dynamic way. They alternate between a slumped collapse and a held, upright position.

The Alexander Technique teaches that sitting comfortably is not so much about the right position, rather about the right relationships. It teaches how the relationship between the  head, neck,

and torso can be optimal and provide for ease in sitting upright.

This is an amazing revelation to experience—to find that you don’t have to create tension to sit. Whether at the computer, on an airplane, or in a car, you can create the right relationships in yourself for comfortable sitting.
