The Alexander Technique has been used for over 100 years to educate the neuro-muscular system. In this process of education, you learn to recognize when you are using too much or too little effort for a given activity and to transform this excess tension or slumped collapse into a balanced, light, dynamic and coordinated way of being.

The Technique is about the freedom to choose. We engage in our most common daily activities unconsciously and automatically, giving little thought to how we do what we do. While essential to living a modern, contemporary life, many of the habitual ways we behave not only limit our functionality and performance but also cause pain and tension. Knowing how to guide ourselves consciously provides a means to choose better, more efficient ways to function. As a result, we perform better and can learn to prevent and manage pain.

At its core, the Alexander Technique is a method of self-care. You learn skills to use on your own, in your day-to-day life. Anyone, of any any age or ability, has the capacity to learn the Technique.

"I am so grateful to you and the Alexander Technique. Twenty-four hours after our first session I was able to pinpoint and begin to alleviate the main source of my chronic back and neck stress: something two doctors were not able to do for me. After our second session I came to the joyous realization that back pain does not have to be part of the normal aging process; that a person can learn to re-establish a friendship between body and mind. And after our third session I was dancing again!"
